Aaron Samuel’s move to CSKA in doubt

There are now doubts surrounding Aaron Samuel’s proposed move to CSKA Moscow, after it was revealed the forward will be out for seven months following a knee surgery.


The Super Eagles player, was expected to sign a three-year contract with the Russian club at the end of his loan spell, but suffered an injury to his lateral cruciate ligament.

Samuel has now been ruled out until early next year and CSKA chief, Roman Babayev, admits the “situation is difficult”.

“We have not even talked to the agent of Olanare (Samuel),” Babayev was quoted on sport-express.ru
“The operation took place at the end of last week. Unfortunately, it confirmed the initial diagnosis, damaged front and lateral cruciate ligament.

“In fact, 6-7 months – the minimum recovery time. In fact, he had two operations. The situation is difficult. Let’s sit down, let’s talk with the agent.

“We are upset. But this is football – nothing can be done. Not yet ready to announce a decision.”
