The Super Eagles player, was expected to sign a three-year contract with the Russian club at the end of his loan spell, but suffered an injury to his lateral cruciate ligament.
Samuel has now been ruled out until early next year and CSKA chief, Roman Babayev, admits the “situation is difficult”.
“The operation took place at the end of last week. Unfortunately, it confirmed the initial diagnosis, damaged front and lateral cruciate ligament.
